6MW Solar Power Project
6MW Solar Power Project by Arhyama Solar Power
The Problem
The southern grid is dominated by fossil fuel based power plants producing combustion byproducts such as CO2 a green house gas which contributed to the greenhouse effect on Earth.
The Solution
This project uses photovoltaic technology to capture energy from the sun, helping to improve the energy mix for India. The 6MW solar power plant at Kolanupaka, Telangana, reduces anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) by approximately 9,535 tCO2e per year and provides 9,899 MWh/year of clean electricity to the southern grid. A grid dominated by fossil fuel-based power plants.
The project demonstrates the viability of grid connected solar farms to support improved air quality, alternative sustainable energy futures, energy security, improved local livelihoods and sustainable renewable energy industry development in the southern region of India.
